We are excited that past participant Thomas Voden (Associate Professor of Mathematics and STEM Grant Director at Glendale Community College) will be returning to Big Ideas Fest this year as an Action Collab apprentice facilitator.
Action Collabs are an integral part of Big Ideas Fest.These small workshops use design thinking and improv to create innovative solutions to challenges. As an apprentice facilitator, Tom will assist a group collaborating through that process.

At the Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education (ISKME), we are changing the face of professional development training for the 21st century educator by collaborating worldwide with educators, administrators, and students.
ISKME’s Teachers as Makers Academy stimulates teachers’ creation of Open Educational Resources (OER), freely available online learning materials, in a collaborative format that covers the basics of finding and evaluating OER; and leads teachers through the design and remix of new projects to share. We view teachers as makers of learning and strive to support innovation in their teaching by leading them through a dynamic two-day Academy that stretches their creativity in terms of how and what they teach. ISKME’s OER Commons network unites teachers with a curated collection of over 30,000 open educational resources (OER). Providing access alone, however, does not empower teachers to integrate OER into K-12 classrooms and other settings. (more…)
